It's fashionable to be a Cracovian - but we've been saying that for years. Now, fashion experts finally agree with us, as Cracow has made the list of the 25 most fashionable cities in the world, just barely squeezing in at number 25. The reason? Well, Cracow is viewed as a centre of "neo-Bohemian influence". But it's not all about the fake pearls and hip-hugging jeans that adorn the bodies of Cracow's Bohos, it's about the city's vibrant arts and music scene and its "flourishing café society", all of which draw the people who have made it so hip and fashionable.
While the list had some obvious choices like New York, which was once again number one, or London, Rome and Paris, some unexpected newcomers topped the list along with Cracow. Moscow and Berlin were fashionable enough to place at 16 and 11 respectively. The list is compiled by the Global Language Monitor, which uses an algorithm that tracks words and phrases from print and electronic media in relation to their frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets. But we don't need a fancy computer program to tell us what we already know: Cracow is a fashionable city that's getting hipper every day. |
