By writing this story we're technically breaking our self-imposed ban on mentioning Paris Hilton. But in this case we think you'll agree that the cause is worthwhile.
In an age when TV presenters rarely have the balls to swim against the tide, a proud Polish American has bucked the trend by shredding her lead in protest against Paris Hilton being given top bill.
On Wednesday morning's MSNBC news, Mika Brzezinski, daughter of retired politician Zbigniew Brzezinski, refused to lead with the story of Miss Hilton's release from jail. Her stunned co-producers watched in amazement as she attempted to burn the script. After the burning was foiled, she then resorted to the shredder, which rose to the challenge admirably.
Mrs Brzezinski held that a war-related story was more deserving of top bill than Miss Hilton's plight, a view shared by many viewers. The plucky Pole's on-screen rebellion has since become a huge internet hit. Long live Mika!
