Aces from the world of animated film will be descending on Kino Wrzos this week for a three day feast of film.
As it goes, the Wrzos cinema would be worth a visit even if nothing was playing at all - the place is straight out of a film noir flick. But this week the little treasure will be bursting at the seams with inspiring celluloid tucker.
The action kicks off on Thursday 14th (4.30pm) with a special screening of the secret agent comedy '007 Frank and Wendy' from Estonian star Kaspar Jancis. Later at 6.30pm Round I of the competition gets underway.
On Friday, Round II begins at midday. Then at 2.30pm there will be a special retrospective of the films of outstanding Polish animator Marcin Gizycki. Round III kicks off at 4.30pm, and will continue late into the evening.
Saturday sees a series of retrospectives, culminating with the prize-giving ceremony itself at 7pm. Animators will be competing for the bronze, silver and above all gold gongs, and there are parallel awards for amateurs. We'll see you there!
** Kino Wrzos is pretty much walking distance from the Old Town, but if your legs are tired, jump on tram No. 8 and alight at SMOLKI. Then turn left up to ul. Zamoyskiego.
