After weeks locked up in our cyber-dungeon, with only a one-eyed crow and a hunch-backed pit bull for comfort, we've returned to the land of the living - hopefully the better for it. And as our faithful readers will already have noticed, cracow-life.com has not changed one bit. That's right, it's exactly as it was when we started the revamp all those moons ago. But hang on a moment you ask. Why are you wasting our time telling us about mischievous crows and manic depressive dogs if there is no news to report whatsoever? Well, before you throw aside the green critter in your hands, we'll get to the point. The Webmaster has been weaving his magic on three new life-lines, and after some last touches here, and some secret ingredients there, the trio has been dispatched into cyberspace.
Vilnius, Tallinn and Riga. Three cities that were shrouded in mystery for so long. Three cities where - according to popular myth - the buildings were grey, the bread was grey and even the people were grey. In short, perfect holiday destinations for our old friend Olga, the optically-challenged crow, and Borek, the suicidally depressed dog. But of course, the word is out now that those 'obscure' Baltic capitals are not the dead-end destinations of legend. In fact, they're a darn slight prettier and perkier than most 'Western' cities.
Take Vilnius for example. Normally it's Italy that gets the art historians rhapsodizing. But when it comes to baroque beauty, it's the Lithuanian capital that has the embarrassment of riches. Vilnius is where two of Europe's greatest Romantic poets came of age. And when you're strolling the city's nooks and alleys, the coupling of Vilnius and poetry will seem as logical as a fish in water.
But back to the job at hand. We're delighted to launch this Baltic trio into the cyber stratosphere. And the all important factor is that we've totally redesigned our site model. Besides a fresh and funky new look, we've added some new features, whilst making some of the old ones more user-friendly. Each site has a forum where travellers can put the city to rights, and each site has its own gallery of quirky photography. As always, readers can dash off their own personal reviews of cafes, bars and restaurants, and we've got a resident weatherman to prophesy the fickle whims of Mother Nature. But enough blurb, why not log on and have a look!
