Wrigley Will Move To Poland
Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., the world's largest chewing-gum maker, will close a plant in Phoenix that makes Eclipse breath strips and move production to Poland.
The company will offer some of the 98 Phoenix employees positions at other plants while the remaining jobs will be cut, Wrigley said in a statement.
Breath strips production will be consolidated in Poland because sales are stronger in Europe than in the U.S., Wrigley spokesman Christopher Perille said in an interview. Wrigley has operated the Phoenix plant for about four years, Perille said.
Company shares rose 14 cents to $62.97 in New York Stock Exchange composite trading, and have climbed 12 percent this year.
