Poland will be cutting all alcohol advertisements during Pope Benedict's visit later this month. Similarly, lingerie adverts with suggestive scenes will be jettisoned for the duration of the stay.
Some lingerie companies have already created back up advertisements that leave a little more to the imagination, whilst TV executives are carefully choosing films and documentaries that will be in keeping with the respectful spirit of the occasion.
As occurred in the past when Pope Benedict's predecessor John Paul II visited Poland, the sale of alcohol itself will be banned, although only in the two main cities that the Pontiff is visiting, Warsaw and Cracow.
Pope Benedict XVI will arrive in Poland on Thursday 25th May. After a vast Mass on Warsaw's Pilsudski Square the following day, the Pontiff will travel to Cracow, where he will reside at the Archbishop's Palace. The Pope will also be visiting the shrine of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska and the former Concentration Camp of Auschwitz.
Pope Benedict will depart from Poland on the evening of Sunday 28th.
