Russian Circus

The 4th Month of Photography in Cracow.

A Russian circus may not sound like the most original idea in the world for an exhibition, but Reiner Riedl's images are so beguiling that it would be mean-spirited to grumble. It's a fantastic little show.

The Viennese photographer's small exhibition at the Pauza bar is full of charm and humour, and some images have a marvellous striking power. It's amongst the best shows of this year's festival.

If you want to see the exhibition, our tip is to go during the day-time, not because the bar is dull at night - quite the opposite in fact - Pauza is a bit too good at night. Packed with partiers after dusk, the place won't give you much of a chance of taking in the photographs, so go during the day when the natural light is superb. Pauza's iced coffee is another winning factor.
