A new exhibition will be unveiled next week at the Galicia Museum by Father Stanislaw Dziwisz, current Archbishop of Cracow and former personal secretary to Pope John Paul II. 'Polish Heroes: Those who Rescued Jews', draws back the curtain on a group of Poles who risked their lives to save citizens of Jewish descent.
The Galicia Museum, which opened two years ago in Cracow's Kazimierz district, has already established itself as one of the most inspiring cultural ventures in the city. The brainchild of Chris Schwarz, a British photographer of Jewish-Polish descent, the museum brings to life the region's Jewish heritage in a fresh and creative style. Besides the permanent photographic exhibition - which constitutes a stunning catalogue of the lost world - the museum hosts regular concerts, lectures, cabarets and book launches. The opening of the new exhibition will be on Tuesday 16th May.
