Up and until a year ago, Cracow's nightlife was divided between the upbeat Old Town and arty Kazimierz. Then one day, a couple of bright sparks decided to invade a townhouse on a god-forsaken street just east of the city centre. It seemed an unlikely recipe for success. But word slowly began to spread, and before you knew it, five different hangouts had opened up within the same building. Before long, No. 15 Wielopole Street had become one of the hottest addresses in town - great news for Cracow's nightlife, not so good news for anyone trying to catch forty winks in the neighbouring building.
A year on, and two of Wielopole's stalwarts, Kitsch and Caryca (Tsarina) are hosting 8 days of action as we glide into Spring. The event gets underway tomorrow, and guests include stars from the worlds of fashion, music, art and film. Besides the artistic escapades, visitors are guaranteed that each evening will end with a party, and these usually run until the early hours.
For this Thursday's kick-off, Kitsch will be hosting a 'multi-media' concert between Helsinki and Greatfruit, drawing on such varied ingredients as punk, grunge, soul and pop. Next door at Caryca, DJ team Piekni Chlopcy will be letting rip with their eclectic stuff. Don't miss it!
