Katowice honours composer Kilar

 

The prominent Polish composer Wojciech Kilar has received an honorary citizenship of the city of Katowice in Silesia. Born in Lviv, now in Ukraine, Kilar has been a resident of Katowice for several decades and has done much to promote it on the international scene. Kilar’s output includes instrumental and vocal music, as well as soundtracks to films by such famous directors as Wajda, Coppola and Polanski.
