Prosecutors have filed murder charges against a man for killing a rival soccer fan after a match in southern Poland.
A man identified only as Piotr B. faces a possible life sentence if convicted of the killing of Marcin K., Krakow regional prosecutors spokesman Boguslawa Marcinkowska said Tuesday. Marcinkowska could not provide last names due to Polish privacy laws.
Marcin K., a fan of Wisla Krakow, was stabbed to death after Sunday's match against crosstown rival Cracovia.
Marcinkowska said the 20-year-old Piotr B. admitted to the crime and showed police where the knife was hidden.
"He said he didn't want to kill Marcin, but that he took a kitchen knife from home and went out with his friends to take revenge on Wisla fans," Marcinkowska said.
Three other men who were present during the crime face charges of accessory to murder, Marcinkowska said.
