Andrzej Wajda, the grand old man of Polish cinema, turned eighty this week, fresh from winning the award for lifetime achievement at the Berlin Film Festival.
Besides his adventures in celluloid, the director has also won kudos for his work in the wider cultural sphere, as is best exemplified at Manggha, Cracow's pioneering cultural centre.
Tonight, culture vultures can catch two choice events at the centre, the first being the opening of an exhibition at 6pm by German photographer Sabine Richter. She's been exploring Cracow's poetic corners for this show, which is entitled 'Structures of Memory.'
At 7.30pm, Adam Budak's celebrated 'Co to jest archtektura?' series (What is architecture?) returns, with a visit from another German ace, Justus Pysall, who has brought to life a some of the finest new embassies in Berlin.
