Krakow feels the love!
After a contentious run up Love Organisation finally arrived in Krakow with a bang on Saturday at the nightclub formerly known as Rdza. The party’s promotional machine had attracted some negative press in Poland and coupled with some fierce competition from rival parties the omens were bad! However any fears that the party would be anything less than a success were alleviated as soon as this reporter descended the steps into Bracka’s slick subterranean venue. The queue at the bar was two deep and the cloakroom filled the second after he had checked his coat – surely good signs that somebody was doing something right? Stepping into the main seating area in front of the dance floor it was already clear from the atmosphere and pounding bass that this was no ordinary party!
Formerly one of Krakow’s coolest clubs, Rdza had taken a sad dip in form recently: instead of attracting an in-crowd of fashionable students and clubbers it had started drawing a mainly masculine crowd of ne’er do wells and had even installed a cage on the dancefloor (surely a sign of desperation?). However, on the evidence of its launch event the Love Organisation partnership has taken the club by the scruff of the neck and put it straight back where it belongs - at the forefront of the Krakow clubbing scene. The guestlist policy ensured at least some decorum (drunken VIP Brits being the worst behaved – but at least they did it with a smile!); whilst a healthy supply of pretty faces helped encourage plenty of mingling and dancing shenanigans. Meanwhile the music fluctuated in styles – but not in quality. From straight-laced house, to crowd-pleasing house as well as some more minimal sounds, the dancefloor was kept heaving from start to finish (well, ok until we left – at about 3am. We can’t claim to know what happened after that!).
As for our hosts for the night, they were cordial and well-organised. Ms Dudziak ensured that everything ran smoothly whilst Otiz F. Angel and his counterpart Matt James hobnobbed in and outside the VIP room, enjoying the party as much as everyone else. The verdict? Bring on next Saturday!
