Poland To Host Miss World

In these politically correct times, the British are somewhat awkward about their creation of the Miss World beauty contest. However, viewers have voted with their remotes - last years show drew 2 billion viewers worldwide. From this we can deduce that Miss World is clearly more popular than other controversial British inventions such as marmite, milky tea and cricket.

This morning, Varsovians were amused to discover that Poland's capital is to host the 2006 show. We don't predict much controversy from the Polish press when the army of international lovelies descends on Warsaw this September, although you never can be too sure. All the same, according to the experts, the contestants may risk being upstaged by the locals. Whilst visiting Warsaw, Casanova's partner in crime the Prince De Ligne noted that 'Polish ladies have a grace, a charm and an abandon superior to those of women of all other parts of the world.' The girls have got their work cut out then.
