Pupils Hopping Mad
The dragging renovation of the Main Market Square has begun to unnerve Cracow's university hopefuls. Before taking their 'Matura' examinations, examinees should follow the time-honoured tradition of hopping round the statue of poet Adam Mickiewicz. The gallant bard rewards hoppers with a pass - surely not a bad exchange.
But alas, the March deadline is already being jettisoned, casting doubt over whether the space will be opened in time for the mid April exams. Mother Nature doesn't seem to be helping much either - the snowfall is relentless. Agitated students have now tied a message to the railings in the hope of inspiring workers to move up a gear: 'Przez Was Mozemy Nied Zdac Matury!!!' it reads (Due to You We Won't Pass Our Matura!
