Stary Krakow

Cracovians watched with fascination as this grand but dilapidated old mansion by the Market Square was slowly brought back to life. Since opening its doors in 2006, Hotel Stary has taken its place as one of the very top spots in town. It comes from the team that brought you Copernicus and Pod Roza, so commitment to excellence is a given. They've gone for a more contemporary approach here, although many rooms also have charming relics from the days when this was a private residence. Swimming pools, rooftop bars and a host of other extras guarantee that this will be memorable for the right reasons.

Lovely hotel but thought front desk service could have better, and the bar on the terrace was a big disappointment, the cocktails were below par, the service lousy and it closed at 11pm, fat too early.

We loved the hotel, rooms really comfortable and got a room with balcony as requested. Breakfast was excellent. All the staff very helpful. Would certainly stay there again.

We liked the hotel very much. I found difficulty operating the lighting but that is probably my lack of technical expertise. The room was comfortable and the bahroom excellent
