Pod Roza Krakow

Pod Roza (Under the Rose) is a sister branch of the famous Copernicus Hotel. Nevertheless, the Rose's pedigree stretches back much further than its sibling. In times past, guests such as Tsar Alexander II and Franz Liszt have checked in here, and after a thorough renovation, the hotel has regained it's status as a favourite with well-heeled travellers. It's a little less showy than the Copernicus but just as sophisticated. The atmosphere is fresh and friendly, the design subtle and rather suave. Full air-conditioning has been installed so you won't have any worries if it's a glorious Summer - you'll have the best of both worlds! Location is superb as you're just a stone's throw from the Main Market Square.

I enjoyed the Pod Roza Hotel, but there were a few problems that prevent me from giving it a higher recommendation. 1. The first room we were given was directly under the work out room and it was awful. They were nice about changing us, but it was an uninhabitable room. 2. The next room was fine, but it was quirky. There was only one bed side lamp, so my husband could not read in bed. Also, the curtains were hung in an unusual way, where they stood out from the window, so in the morning the light just poured in and directly on the bed. 3. We asked for information about taking a train to Warsaw and we were given bad and/or wrong information twice. The people at the hotel should know about that. On the positive side, the place was clean, furnished well and the breakfast was exceptional.

Lovely hotel in really good location. Staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast very good and a lovely room to eat in. Rooms a little dark and corridors a bit gloomy, but overall a really good stay.
