Christmas cribs

The annual szopki (Christmas cribs) competition is a tradition that has its birthplace right here in Krakow. On the first Thursday in December, models are displayed in the main square, where the best and most imaginative are awarded prizes. The themes take in everything from tradition to modern political satire. A few days later the models are moved to the historical museum, where they will remain on display until early 2012.
