Costumes, kitchen utensils, tools... the permanent exhibition at the Ethnographic museum freezes everyday objects in time, allowing closer examination of their significance. Whole rooms have been reconstructed to show homes, schools and places of work, putting exhibits into context and illustrating their transition from ‘object’ to ‘artefact’. Not only is this a valuable and rich source of information about Polish folk history, it may also lead you to reassess the contents of your own home.
