Kawaleria Szarza Smaku website

A stone's throw from Krakow's famed Main Market Square is Kawaleria Szarza Smaku - "Cavalry" with "a charge of taste." England may be most commonly associated with horse-riding and hunting, but the equestrian life was equally, if not more glorified here in Poland. Polish cavalry won fabled victories over the centuries, and this nostalgic haunt looks back to an era of manor houses and country estates. The venue is equipped with a full bar, a cozy, smaller dining room as well as a large banqueting hall. The latter rivals that of nobles' in size and features a gallery of paintings depicting all a cavalier would want in traditional Poland. Accompanying this exhibit of horses, horsemen, and men of war is a decor to match, as sabres and tapestries line the walls. You're sure to enjoy the atmosphere of this novel establishment as well as that of the surrounding Golebia St. The Kawaleria restaurant received a Michelin star recommendation for 2010 and 2011.

there were 13 of us at dinner at kawaleria a couple of nights ago and everybody absolutely enjoyed their dinner over there.we started with the ubiquitous soups, the mushroom soup was great but the cheese one was far better, really scrumptious. needless to say the pierogi were the best in town. delicious tender pork with melted oszczypek cheese and silesian dumplings. ten plus for the dessert of plums and amaretti. honest prices. lovely staff. keep it up kawaleria!bye from italy

Having taken the plunge to make a booking after reading reviews and viewing the menu online (Missus can be a bit picky with food!). I have to say it was the best meal we had over our long weekend in Krakow. Service, Quality, Surroundings were all 150%. I could not recommend this restaurant enough. 5/5 should be extended to 10/5!

I've eaten twice at this stylish restaurant where the food was excellent and the service super. I particularly liked the cavalry-themed decor which adds to a truly unique and relaxed ambience.

One beautiful morning we were meandering along a little cobbled stone street when I saw an enchanting view, through a little lane I saw a garden courtyard filled with sunlight. I couldn't resist going in and to my suprise and delight we found this restaurant. The service and the food were truely memorable and this restaurant deserves 5 stars.

I found this restaurant via this website. I was arranging a visit for 20 photographers and the restaurant I'd planned to take them to was already booked.

The staff at Kawaleria were very helpful in planning the visit and putting a menu together. Everyone enjoyed the meal, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. In fact I returned again!

I'd definately recommend a vist.

Six of us went to Kawaleria on my birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and agreed it was the best meal of our 10-day stay - Polish food with a slightly 'cheffy' twist – I enjoyed my main of wild boar gammon very much. The wine list is decent and is competitively priced by Polish standards. Highly recommended.

Nice surroundings, friendly polite service. Starters were a bit small but the main course of 'Steak in Vodka Sauce'was superb. Only two minor complaints, the size of the starters and they got the bill wrong. On the whole, not the best restaurant we visited but well worth a try.

This wasn't the greatest restaurant we ate out in during our stay in Krakow. The food sounds nice and looks posh on the plate but taste wise it wasn't as good as it looked. The starter of wild mushrooms was delicious though, but the main course let things down a little, it just seemed a bit pretentious for what it was. The outside courtyard is very picturesque to eat in, but bring a jacket if you plan on eating out there at night - I had to move in -it got cold!

Super service and great decor made for really good experience, the food didn't quite match the price bracket (this restaurant came with top reviews) .... nice, authentic food ....great starters but OK main course. Will definitely eat there again when we return to Krakow ...

About £10 a head incl for 3 courses - pricey for Poland - but the best meal we have EVER eaten. Service was excellent and surroundings were very pleasant. Highly recommended
