One of the most popular restaurants in central Cracow, Cherubino offers fresh, hearty, Polish food cooked on an open elm-fired oven, with a dash of Tuscan cuisine thrown in for good measure. Add in the welcoming open fire during winter, and you have a terrific combination that brings locals and visitors back time after time, helped in good measure by the nineteenth-century horse-drawn carriage eating-booths (no mean hit with the kids), and cellar bar where you can drink until the early hours, presided over by a statue of Saint Paul.

Cherubino

Totally agreeing with all previous reviews. This place has been consistent over the years and the service is always great. Great atmosphere!

I am English, but have been going to Cherubino's whenever I'm in Krakow since I came to live in Poland 13 years ago. The quality of the food, the atmosphere and friendly service have not varied in all that time. Always take UK friends here and all are very impressed

Super breakfasts here as well - you can sit out on the tiny square in front. And, the coffee is very good too.

Ah! One of my favourite places to eat (when I have the money ;) ). Try the lamb cutlettes in mushroom sauce, probably one of the best dishes on this side of the hemisphere. Crazy boho atmosphere, well worth visiting.

Staff very helpful and the recommended Polish soup was delicious (so was the Mad Dog cocktail ....). Less impressed by the meat course but still OK. The pannacotta with toffee sauce made a naughty but very nice end to the meal! Food and atmosphere-wise I think there are better restaurants (Aperatif & Farina) but still enjoyed our visit.

HI I AM POLISH, LIVE IN UK FROM FEW YEARS.WHEN I WAS STUDENT OF KRAKOW UNIVERSITY, CHERUBINO WAS MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT.LOTS MY ENGLISH FRIENDS GOING TO KRAKOW FOR BUSINESS OR AS TURISTS.WHEN THEY ASKED ME WHERE IS NICE PLACE TO EAT IN KRAKOW I ALWAYS RECOMENDED CHERUBINO.BUT THINGS ARE CHANGING SOMETIME.WENT THERE WITH MY BOYFRIEND ON MY BIRTHDAY IN SEPTEMBER,WE CAME IN WAITRESS TOLD US TO SEAT DOWN AND THEY FORGOT WE ARE EXIST.THEY HAD 2 TABLES OF 8 PEOPLE AND 5 WAITRESS WAS RUNNING LIKE HEADLESS CHICKENS AROUND, FOR NEXT 20 MINUTES WE WAS TOTALY IGNORED BY WALKING PASS STAFF, NOONE GAVE AS MENU.WE LEFT THIS PLACE AFTER ANOTHE 5 MINUTES OF WAITING, SO I CAN NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT FOOD, BUT SERVICE IS VERY VERY BAD IN THERE, I RUN RESTAURANT MYSELF SO I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.MY SUGESTION TO OVNER IS TO FIND BETTER STAFF TO RUN HIS RESTAURANT, ONE MORE THING-I WILL NEVER RECOMEND CHERUBINO TO ANY FROM MY FIENDS, I WAS SHAMED ENOUGH IN FRONT OF MY BOYFRIEND.
NICE LOOKING PLACE, BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO IMPRESS CUSTOMER I AM AFFRAID

We had a very nice meal here in very unusual surroundings. Granted, the service wasn't the best we've ever had with a slightly sullen waitress and a bit of a wait between ordering and the food arriving, but we were on holiday, after all, so what's the hurry? The food was tasty and the wine went down a treat, so all in all we would recommend it, especially if you have small children.

Having visited Cherubino on three prior occasions in the last two or three years, I had come to regard this as a "not to be missed" experience when in Krakow.
The service we received this time, however, was at best indifferent. The waiter would rather have stood around ignoring everyone (it wasn't treatment singled out just for us) and looked most offended when he didn't tip him! Food is really good, however - but the pity is that I won't be going back given the truly dreadful service.

Excellent value, good quality food, in fact ate there several times during our 4 day trip.No complaints

Had a bit of a dip in service and cuisine last year, but two recent visits have confirmed that this stalwart is back to its best. Most of the food is cooked on the wood-fired grill and is absolutely delicious. Service attentive and pleasant. Often fully booked, so worht reserving a table in advance.

Our first nite in Krakow was indeed one of our finest. Our nieces who are students here guided us to Cherubino for dinner. They made a wonderful choice. The food the service the atmosphere were all first class.
Our highest praise. We returned twice during our week in Krakow and were as impressed each time.

I ate here with a large group of family and friends on 22/03/2007.It was our second visit. The interior is good and the staff were simply superb given they were serving such a large group. The food was very good. The menu is slightly limited and its certainly not Polish cuisine, but no one can expect to have anything but a very enjoyable evening here.Recommended.

The business lunch is great value at about 16 Polish zloty - there's a choice of about 5 dishes (with free mineral water) - I think it's available from around 1pm until 4pm every day. Good food, good service.

yuuuuumi : ) great staff

I ate here yesterday, and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. I have too say I think the place is SLIGHTLY poorer overall then it was a few years ago, but it is still a great place to go. Put it this way - you can either line up in a student cafeteria-type place like Polakowski or Chimera OR you can have a quality sit-down meal in Cherubino for the same price. I know what I prefer!

Don't listen to the bad reviews for Cherubino. I've been living in Krakow for years, and keep going back to this place. It's well priced, has a great atmosphere, excellent food and very nice staff. As for the English couple complainging about having to pay 50p for mustard, well they should simply accept cultural difference. Not everything is the same as it is back home - and they weren't being ripped off.

Had read mixed reviews and went with the view that it would be Ok as it looked fine....disappointed. The food was not great, much the same as many of the other restaurants in Krakow. they all seemed to be wanting to be better than they actually were and fell well short of the target.Cherubino had one carriage, tiny and when a couple entered it fot their meal i must admit I felt a little sorry for them as it is a nice thought but not very practical. this is NOT a Gastronomes target. It is a nice restaurant with mediocre food and a desire to be something else. Pity!!

This is a true restauranteurs restaurant, and as such has all the pros and cons you might expect. Great food, great presentation, but if you want to eat soemthing and get going this is the wrong place for you. Keep this place in mind when good food is the emphasis of your evening

reviewed by Slinky from United Kingdom on Aug.24.2005

I do not know when the main reviewer last went to this restaurant, but we were here at the end of Dec 2004 and there is no open fire and the 2 horse-drawn carriage eating-booths are purely ornimental (too small for a single child, let alone an adult).
The evening we were there they seemed to be overstretched with the restaurant quite full, as a result the service was slow and neglectful. As for the food, it was awful!
My wife's spare ribs only had fat, no meat and were served luke warm! We asked for mustard and when the bill came we found that they wanted to charge 2zl 50g (about 50p) for the privilage. We refused to pay!

Really excellent food and friendly service. Cherubino has become an incredibly popular place to eat in Cracow, and rightly so. Try the superb mushrooms in garlic, and any of their splendid skewered and grilled meats - delicious!
