Trattoria Mamma Mia email

Trattoria Mamma Mia website

Another welcome arrival in one of our favourite parts of town - the ever-evolving Karmelicka street. Drop in for some oven-baked pizza in a smooth and sultry setting. This is the kind of place that would be equally good for either a date or a casual evening with a bunch of friends. Besides the pizza and pasta, you can also take your pick from some meat and fishes dishes, as well as a range of salads. Pretty soon Karmelicka will be as ... as it was in the 1930's.

Trattoria Mamma Mia

I went here on the weekend just past. There are 2 parts of the restaurant - the cafe part and the fancier restaurant part also with outdoor but covered seating in the courtyard. The seem to be a suspiciously high number of 10/10s here, which are probably sponsored - my rating includes this to redress the balance. The food is average and the service is what you'd expect from a 1950s state controlled soviet bloc restaurant run by Stalin - no manners or charm. You'd imagine some of the people who work here would be better suited to pulling heads off chicken in an abattoir.

We went here in October 2009 and I have to say it was great value. A nice little italian just on Karmelika street. The tomato soup was fantastic and the pizza was huge and tasty. Great value two course meal each and a couple of drinks for about £12 in total. You really cannot go wrong in Krakow.

I live in Krakow and have been to Mamma Mia several times. I love the food there, but as in the rest of the city the customer service and manners is awful. Polish people really suck at it!!

Used to go to this place all the time as is only 5 minutes walk. The food used to be quite good but has become consistently worse and worse but what really brings it down is the service, as pointed out by a number of reviews already listed. It is very close to the Soprano, where the food is much better and there is service with a smile rather than a grimace.

Being a resident of Krakow for several years, I have endured the poor service every time someone else has suggested eating at Mamma Mia. Lee’s review below “...the welcome the waitress gave me was about as warm as a penguin with hypothermia” is about right. I turned up for a late lunch at 3pm in August and needed a table outside because I’d forgotten to bring the lock for my bicycle and needed to keep a close eye on it. We asked the waitress, Kamila Sgozara, to give us the next table that came free, and patiently waited, very visibly, to one side. 25 minutes later we were still waiting and I saw an outside table for 2 be given to one person on their own. We went up to ask Kamila the waitress, and she told us “the person who was sitting there before knew the lady and gave the table to her”. This turned out be a bare faced lie. No offer was made to ask the person to wait for the next table, and no apology was offered. An example of appalling service, appalling waitressing and bad manners. It’s important for tourists visiting Krakow to vote with their feet in establishments that offer the very worst service, in a city where good restaurant service is very rare.

The pizzas were so authentic that I thought that the owners/chef must be Italian. Was surprised to find out that that's not the case. Chocolate cake also excellent. If only the restaurants that served Polish food cooked this well...!

Was tipped off about this one and the pizzas lived up the expectations. Clearly popular. Polite service, and above all, delicious food. Not horribly expensive.

Visited this place after reading the excellent reviews on this website. When/if you go there is an inside restaurant to the left and an alley on the right leading to a courtyard dining area. The courtyard was full when i went so opted for the inside restaurant and to be frank i wish i hadn't bothered. The service was ok but the welcome the waitress gave me was about as warm as a penguin with hypothermia. The starters took 20 minutes and they were only Bruschetta!! The main courses were ok but not excellent. maybe they were having an off day but i wouldn't recommend it.

Hadn't noticed this one on the website before going, but it was GREAT! We ate there twice on a 3 night stay. Loved the food, the servings, the friendly service, the decor/setting. Very pleased to find it :o)

I ate at this restaurant and i can say that it was probably the best meal i had in Krakow. Very reasonably prices. About 30 Zt (£6) for the most expensive pizza. Would recommend.

Wow is small of a word. My complements to the owner, for this fine establishment. I have visited Poland several times, and I am afraid of ordering foreign dishes there, but I must say this place is as close to Italian as they get. Thank you for feeding me so well. Also complements to the English speaking staff. Smacznego!
