This is unquestionably one of the most elegant places to eat in Cracow, with charming frescoes on the walls and a lovely Renaissance ceiling. In different hands, some of the dishes on the menu might end up being rather heavy. But here they are delivered with a lightness of touch, offering pleasing reinterpretations of classic Polish dishes. There's a fine wine list too - the owners have something of a soft spot for Italy, and they've gone to great lengths to track down a good selection. In summer you can kick things off with a drink on the rooftop terrace - the view overlooks Wawel Castle and is one of the best in the city. All in all, an absolute pleasure!

Very fancy. Best of all the bar on the roof. Really romantic....

After the stone cold greeting at reception, and then another chilled blast at the restaurant, things improved. We had lunch, and couldn't fault either the food or the service in any way ...... by the end of the meal the waiter had nearly smiled ... twice! Seriously though, an elegant and classy place with lots to offer and I would be pleased to return.

Of course it is a good restaurant, of course it is the best I have been to in Cracow but it is not perfect. It cannot be perfect when they serve a tea from tea bags!!!

Unfortunately, our experience at Copernicus (07/07/07) was far less satisfactory. The crab salad had very little crab in it; the asparagus soup was quite bland and did not taste of asparagus; I couldn't find any bacon in the bacon ravioli; and the lobster (our main course) was well overcooked: chewy and rubbery. It was depressing to have these wonderful animals killed with such poor results... We had high expectations of Copernicus, but were very dissappointed.

Thank you Cracow-Life. Copernicus is simply outstanding--truly great food, thoughtful service, excellent wine offerings...the restaurant is small, intimate--a lovely backdrop for a romantic evening. We shall return.

Superb, elegant dining. I'm not normally a big fan of hotel restaurants, but this was the exception. Not too formal, but just right, and the food was outstanding. Full marks!
