Halfway between the Old Town Square and the glorious baroque church of St. Annes, you'll find Soprano, a fine place to head for if you're in search of some tasty Italian food. It's been open for a few months now, and you can always spot happy faces peeping out from behind Soprano's windows. Its not difficult to see why - attentive, friendly service, a cheerful atmosphere and of course well-cooked (and inexpensive) Italian food. Besides a range of traditional Italian classics, their pizzas are also a forte and well worth a try.

Trattoria Soprano

I've been here last year, also
last week again; now I can assert candidly, here you actually get the best pizza in the world (as far as I know), even better than in Rome. I had not expected that outside of Italy.

A friend recommended we try out this authentic Italian restaurant before our wonderful visit to Krakow ended. we found it to be a cosy & atmospheric Restaurant just off the main square. The staff although busy were very helpful and attentive. Reasonable prices too.

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I had really tasty salad starter, but the main course - pasta - was really disappointing. The taste was bland and stogy. The staff was really friendly and lovely but forgetful and at the end we had to chase them 2 times for the bill. A shame as I really liked the decor and it looks so romantic from the outside. It seems to me that this place has seen better times.

I have terrible diarrhea after my yesterdays meal. I want to think it is the reason of something else but I didn't eat a lot... My girflriend told she felt yesterdays meal until today afternoon...

The service was really good, the venue has a fantastic atmosphere.

But very unhappy with todays "extras" provided. Maybe one day I will give second chance.

Still generally quite good, but the restaurant could do with a good clean or refurbishment. Staff could be more attentive - they forgot to bring me a salad I ordered. Just needs a bit of a kick up the backside and would be really excellent again.

A great recommendation. Slightly unadventurous to go Italian but we really enjoyed it all rthe same.

Had another great dinner at the trattoria soprano last night. My beef steak was nicely sized and perfectly cooked to medium rare. My sides were scrumptious. The waitress was surprisingly attentive and deserved her tip. Soprano is quickly becoming my favorite.

This place is good value for money and serves really great food. However, the staff seam almost board to serve you so they let the place down. Wines was O but not great, but can't knock the food.Although be warned 9zln (2 pound) for oyster gets you one tiny little one and not worth it. Recommend the veal highly

Fantastic food, friendly staff and excellent service, as always.
For me the best in Kraków.

Five of us went there Saturday night, great food, great service and great price! 3 courses each, eight vodkas, eight large beers, twelve cokes and all for about Ł90!!! No wonder they were turning people away at the door all night.

Mmmmmmmmm! I would love to order a dish now. Wonderful experiance. We have walked for blocks before finally deciding to go eat here, and I am so glad we did. Our waiter was so sweet, spoke English which was a treat, recommended a great bottle of wine and on and on. Food was very, very good, I wish we have found the place sooner, I would dine there daily. Thank You !

Our final meal during our week in Krakow was here. A shame we did find this restaurant earlier. The service and attention offered by our waiter, jarek, was sincere and welcoming. The food was superb and the atmosphere cozy. A great restaurant. We'll be back.

it's sooo cute! I love the inside, with the big wooden column in the middle that makes me think of Venice - really nice! and good food, good service - only a bit too sophisticated and "restaurant-like" to be a trattoria. But i guess in Poland that wouldn't work, probably... anyhow, I like soprano!

I've been to Soprano twice and both times had a wonderful experience. They have a fantastic menu and everything is delicious. Their wine list is also very good. Staff is attentive and friendly and I love the ambience in Soprano.

A lovely warm welcoming Trat which was busy even on a Monday night in Feb. We ate in the basement which was quieter but with excellent service. The food was good, home made tomato & green pea soup, veal & prawns over spaghetti. The only complaint was that the white wine was warm (as stated in other reviews). Good value for money.

reviewed by Ian & Pam Swinden from United Kingdom on Feb.11.2007

Good and tasty food but the starter could have been warmer. Attentive staff even when the restaurant is very busy!! However there are better italian restaurnats in Krakow.

Had a lovely meal here on the last night of our stay in Cracow, the Tiramisu is to die for. No wine as the Pope was in Cracow but we enjoyed our meal anyway. Thanks

reviewed by Anita from Ireland on Jun.08.2006

Tiramisu to die for. Team it up with an iced coffee (thanks Jack!) for a splendid afternoon sugar hit...

After reading all the great reviews, this restaurant was very disappointing. My starter was cold and the white wine was warm. I got salmon for the main course and my husband got lamb. Both were very tough and chewy. All in all, not very good.

reviewed by Jacinta Mc Creanor from Ireland on May.16.2006

Very good service and no complaints about the food. The pastas and the desert were great. I will go back.

Thank you for your recommendation dear Soren, now I'll be stay here in Italy!! I don't know why if somebody says something bad about a restaurant he must be fictional. It was only my opinion, and I'm sure about this: this is not an Italian restaurant! And it's stupid to compare an Italian restaurant with a Mc Donald. I don't know if you, Soren, are fictional, if not...you must learn a lot from Italians!!
P.S.:Italian mamas are lovely, although I lost mine last year: idiot!!

reviewed by valentino from Italy on Feb.02.2006

Valentino & Matteo, first allow me to advise that there are Italian restaurants outside Italy just like you find McDonald's outside the States! Second, of course the flavour & atmosphere of such restaurants will be different than in Italy; raw materials and sourcing of such are different. Third, my recommendation to both of you: Stay in Italy with your Italian food and Italian mammas. As to the rest of the readers, visit the restaurant. You'll enjoy it but remember to book a table in advance.

reviewed by Soren from Denmark on Jan.25.2006

Just had to try this place based on the good reviews (apart from those fictional characters Matteo and Valentino!). Very impressed, attentive service and good food. Recommend the Duck in pink peppercorn sauce - delicious. Will definitely be heading back sometime soon.

reviewed by Simon from Poland on Jun.17.2005

Valentino and Matteo are clearly fictional characters with an axe (meat cleaver) to grind... This is one of the most popular restaurants in the Old Town and deservedly so. Friendly service, delicious food and very reasonable prices!

reviewed by H. Whittaker from United Kingdom on Jun.10.2005

I'm agree with Matteo!! If you are looking for an Italian restaurant...go to Italy!!! Kind service and nice music, but please, this is not italian atmosphera...and you can't cook italian food just because the name is Trattoria Soprano!!

reviewed by valentino from Italy on Jun.09.2005

Good Italian food – a window seat is best for watching the world go by. Friendly service.

They have dirty dishes...I had to ask them to clean them again...I got dirty cup of water yesterday...so I decided to change my mind...I bought sth in the original bottle...
Better chose another italian restaurant (Poselska street! )
Take care :)

reviewed by Makindo from Zimbabwe on Dec.14.2004

I have tried to get in here three or four times but it is always full - a good sign!

reviewed by Mark B from United Kingdom on Dec.10.2004

This appears to be a very popular restaurant - and rightly so. It's a very welcoming place serving good food. A true test of an Italian restaurant is the cooking of the pasta. Soprano passed the test with flying colours. The spaghetti was perfectly al dente. My wife says that the tiramisu was perfect.

reviewed by Rod Lipscombe from United Kingdom on Nov.01.2004
