Marmolada website

A fourth restaurant from the trusty folks that brought you favourites such as Miod Malina, Wesele and La Campana, Marmolada sees the team sticking to their guns with a further voyage into Polish and Italian flavours. Occupying a prime spot just off the square, Marmolada has a welcoming, country cottage vibe. However, this cottage is rather large, and it can fit about 120 souls into its four rooms (one of which is non-smoking). Specialities of the chef include Roast Duck marinated in orange and red wine, and for pudding, racuchy a Polish twist on apple pancakes. A breakfast buffet is also available for early birds in search of sustenance (7-10 am).

First time at this restaurant.

I ordered the cabbage and mushroom perogies. They came cooked in a cast iron skillet which was resting on a round wooden platter...a perfect fit. Having a seasoned perogy background and maker of thousands for my family, I am qualified to talk perogy talk and was shocked at their quality and taste.

In my opinion, they came out of a frozen bag and not made on premise, and if they were, I would fire the perogy maker. There were about 10 perogies per skillet. Mine were soaking in overcooked, mushy, soggy onions, and oil. Many parts of each perogy were undercooked, still cold inside especially on the outer edges, the dough thick and the filling tasteless, and virtually absent ( about 2 tsp) It was the first time after 10 days in Poland, I had to apply salt to my food. I have a Polish heritage and would not go back although the place appeared to be clean.

Lovely establishment, very large with plenty of seating, wonderful delicate smell of scented burning wood as you enter, wine menu ready waiting on the table, wonderful menu with plenty of choice, I went for the roasted goose breast in red wine sauce and amarone cherries.... delectable! My girlfriend had beef tenderloin steak cooked to perfection.
It wasn't overly priced or particularly cheap but what I would expect to pay for such food.
Greatly recommend this hearty place right on the main square.

Disastrous experience here in September 2010. Very poor service. We were not provided with a wine menu and when I asked a waiter for one we were ignored point blank. No-one came to take our order for 30 minutes, they did not even offer us a drink. So we got up and left the restaurant without eating or drinking anything. Never again.

Made a New Years Eve table booking by phone...no problems encountered. Menu looked good, the food was well cooked and presented however; the red cabbage which was served up with lamb chops was a bit of a disaster, other food was found to be a bit heavy for our taste. Chicken broth turned out to be a a cube of Maggi disolved in water...not exactly inspiring. A Lovely restaurants' reputation damaged by mediocre food, and not really value for money. There are better establishments in the town.
