Wesele

From the same people that gave Polish cuisine a welcome twist at Miod Malina comes Wesele, a restaurant celebrating old Polish traditions, with a nod to famed Polish playwright Stanislaw Wyspianski's play of the same name. "Wesele" means "wedding" in Polish, and you'll certainly feel like you've been invited to a Polish wedding party here, where you can indulge in several courses of traditional Polish dishes, accompanied by a selection of wines from around the world. The rustic country-style interior recreates the atmosphere of an elegant Polish country manor house. If you're planning your own "wesele," there is a whole hall on the second floor prepared especially for private parties.

I was concerned about this place, having eaten a poor meal here a couple of months ago and, but nevertheless we tried again today and the food I have to admit was pretty good. I stuck to a simple pork cutlet, which was very tasty. The service too seemed to have improved from my previous experience. Maybe we were just lucky.....

My husband and son got severe food poisoning from dinner here on Aug. 9/11. We think it was from the potatoes as that was the only food that just the 2 of them ate. My husband was ill for 5 days straight after and we had to alter our travel plans which costs us a ton of extra money. We were flying the next morning to England and it was a flight from hell with the 2 of them so ill. We've alerted health inspectors to check this restaurant. This should never happen, especially in such an expensive restaurant!

Visited this restaurant, even after reading the reviews. The people we went had visited last year and said it was great.
We had cold soup!!! un cooked fish and friend cabbage that looked like worms and tasted worse. Give it a wide berth. Lots of better places to eat

Have to agree with the last reviewer that this place is over-priced in comparison to the quality of food and the service. We found our waiter to be rather rude. He questioned our choice of wine, suggesting instead one the most expensive bottles on the menu. He also recommended only the most expensive dishes on the menu. I had one of the more expensive dishes which was the goose and I found this to be disappointing. The meat was average quality and the sauce was over-flavoured with too many ingredients. The waiter suddenly became very attentive when we had finished our meal and we were about to receive our bill - I wonder why? Overall, the restaurant is in a great location and is nicely decorated but over-priced. There are much better places and better value to eat in Krakow than here. I would not go back to this restaurant.

Nice inside and staff are friendly, but my meal was over priced for what it was and it was, I needed a kebab afterwards to fill me up. The steak was thin and not what i expected. I would not visit again due to the quality of meat, it was a cheap cut for a high price.

I have visited this restaurant in january 2011 and would not recoment it again. We visited 8 different restaurants and it was far the worst. Dumplings, soups and simple polish cusine are OK, but nothing extraordinary. I ate better at cheap polish bars. More soffisticated stuff is terrible. Herring and especially spare ribs was a disaster. Extremly fat and I left it after the first bite. Extremly bad quality of meat. After complaint, there came no excuse or a drink as a compensation.

I would not visit place again. Indifferent service, fast food quality of meals and very very cold inside.

We had lunch there on Saturday. It was actually very cold, and everybody who was seated downstairs had to move upstairs, because the draft from the door was so strong! So it was a bit of a crush up there. However, the food was good, particularly the potato pancakes, and we'd definitely recommend it to other travellers.

Visited on 20th March 2011. I have eaten out in Krakow over a hundred times and this was quite simply the worst food I have ever been served in the city.

It was with visitors to the city and our requirement was very simple - a restaurant that served the basics, did them well and in offered a reasonably pleasant, tourist-friendly environment.

For starters, we ordered grilled oscypek (sheep cheese) and placki ziemaczane (potato pancakes). The placki arrived black and slimy. These pancakes are supposed to be cripy and golden brown. What we received was neither and were dripping wet from the grease. They were inedible and were returned. The waitress noticed and, to her credit, spoke with the manager, removed the item from the bill and offered us a complimentary dessert.

I was served three slices of grilled cheese - the third of which was warm (not grilled or hot) on the outside and ice cold in the centre. The third slice was sent back with a request to convey the message to the kitchen.

For mains, we ordered two portions of pierogi – one fried, one boiled. In both cases, the dough on the inside was not cooked through properly. As such, in the case of the fried meat pierogi, there was an unpleasant pasty feel on the inside of every single dumpling. Worth adding that in one dumpling, there was a large chunk of hard, inedible gristle and another of the dumplings was filled with something other than what was ordered.

Also worth adding that, while nobody expected a low-fat meal when ordering these pierogi, we didn’t expect a centremetre-deep layer of grease on our plates either.

Maybe other meals are fine here but if you want the simple things or if you want to go to a restaurant where they have grasped the basic principles of how to fry without leaving your food soaking wet, go elsewhere. Needless to say, nobody was really in the mood to take the waitress up on her offer of a free dessert.

I wish I could review this restaurant. We tried for a table at about 10pm on Saturday night and were told that they had finished serving. So, the following night, we got there at 7pm and were told that they were fully booked. A shame for us that they hadn't mentioned it the night before so we could have reserved a table. A shame for them as we were drinking Champagne!

The worst restaurant I ever been. Cold soup, old meat, rude service definitely do not recommend !!!

Westopped for new year our second vist and eat here twice. Food was excellent both times, this is a lovely place to eat good traditional food, good prices and attractive setting

good tradional food at good prices their polish dumplings look uncooked when they are served but they are to die for great taste im so glad i tried them

This restaurant is brilliant! Food was great, do not miss the baked cheese, dumplins and meat platters. We enjoyed it very much inluding the decoration and the service.

This is a most attractive restaurant to walk into and the welcome from the staff is terrific, as is the care they take of you throughout your visit. The young waiting staff speak excellent English (better than a lot of Brits can speak it!)and are very professional in all they do. Sad to report, then, that the food is a disappointment. The dinner I had on Tuesday March 10th gave a strong impression that the kitchen was in the charge of a production manager rather than a chef de cuisine. No imagination, no special touch. The zurek (soup) was not unpleasant, but it's various ingredients were not apparent. The goose breast showed all the signs of having been pre-cooked and then reconstituted in the microwave. It was tough, not hot enough and therefore fatty, and was smothered in an excess of a tart, acidic fruit sauce. (The steamed veg on the other hand were cooked to perfection. It was the first time in my life that I have positively enjoyed broccoli -- and I'm 66!). If they can pick up their kitchen's performance, this will be one of the best places to go in Krakow, but until then, don't go if it's super food you looking for.

Fabulous restaurant on the square. Exceptional staff, friendly & attentive. Great menu reasonably priced. It's a must when you're in Krakow.

Excellent food and excellent service! This restaurant really does deliver fntastic food at a really fair price. We all had the best meal we have had all week, and that is really saying something! (Cyrano de Bergerac, Pod Aniolami,(forget that one) Chlopskie Jadlo, Farina and Farinella etc). We thoroughly recommend the charming staff and ambience; ask for the table in the window and watch the world go by in the market square. This one is definitely one of the best in town.

Fantastic place! Had dinner there last week (and go to Miod Malina each time we are in Krakow-great too!)and it was just beautiful. Goose breast to die for, my husband had venison loin in gingerbread and red wine sauce. Heaven. Delicious desserts and great service too! Definitely recommend.

Great restaurant - my expectations were high as a big fan of Miod Malina, and I was not disappointed. Same great service, very similar dishes, but with an added bonus, a view of the Rynek. Highly recommended!
