Two rooms in classic old Cracow cellars, recall with a hint of humour and nostalgia the times of the Kaiser Franz Joseph. The cosy booths would not be out of place in Stefan Zweig's 'Letter from an Unknown Woman', and indeed, the restaurant takes it's name from the novel 'The Good Soldier', which was written by Zweig's contemporary, Jaroslaw Hasek. The bold will be intrigued by Zlota Pipa's (The Golden Pipe's) unconventional chess set, which obliges you to down pawns as shots - tactics will soon go out the window after a couple of these have bitten the dust. A delectable menu will keep spirits high, with hearty specialities such as white sausages and cabbage, washed down, of course, by a pint of beer or one of their intriguing cocktails.

Unique Krakow-cellar atmosphere, helpful staff and tasteful dishes to reasonable prices are the reasons why I come back again.

This is our first stop on arrival in Krakow and we've been lots of times. Pleasant staff, great atmosphere and tasty food and drink.

Cosy cellar with excellent service. Food is good [though perhaps not the best around] and pretty good value. Two main courses, one pudding and several drinks came to 98 pln.

Didn't eat here as had pre-arrnged another location but enjoyed several pre-supper drinks (the beer is excellent). Tremedous place ideal for that cold evening to get down underground into an atmospheric cellar bar. Lovely friendly staff who managed our large party skillfully and cheerfully. Food seen looked good and inviting. A must if only for that pre or post supper drink. But frankly good enough for the whole evening I suspect.

I go to Krakow once a year, and ALWAYS come here for my 1st dinner. It is great, good selection of food, staff is efficient, what else do you want? Try it.

Mmmmm I'd eat there again. Bust a move! But seriously it was excellent.

This was the first restaurant that we ate in during our short visit to Krakow and we wasn't disapointed. The cabbage and bacon soup is to die for, the beef with red cabbage and cherries is awesome and the fruit salad in cherry vodka is superb. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Well worth trying if you want to sample some great polish food.

You will not regret a visit here for food, drink and mellow atmosphere. Service was superb and food hit all the right spots. The staff made us feel right at home and the chef knows how to produce great food. Look out for the "old boy" in the main street to point you in the right direction. Top marks.

Pod Zlota Pipa has great atmosphere, service and food. It is not an exclusive restaurant - but for the price you will struggle to get a better dining experience"

really good, a lovely atmosphere, and great food! I loved the baked garlic (a starter or sth i think) and fried small mushrooms! must feel good in the winter when you go down to the cellar with warm lights and candles. something completely differetnt, and therefore - interesting! when i come back to cracow, i'll surely go there again :)

Wonderful! Your restaurant was one of the best which we tried while spending early November in Krakow. Both the service and the food were outstanding.

the food is very good, especially the pierogy (hope its the right spelling), as well as the beer. The staff was always very kind. So I can highly recommend it for a nice evening in one of the old cellars of cracow.
