Pod Jaszczurami 'Under the Lizards' is one of the oldest and most famous student clubs in Krakow. It was opened in 1969, but the magnificent vaulted ceiling transports you back to the days when a certain Nicholas Copernicus was a student in the city. The club has plenty of bright stars in its firmament, with big names in Polish music (anything from hip hop to jazz) performing regularly, whilst the link with Polityka magazine brings political big-wigs (including the President) to discussions here. This is a friendly place to drop by for a beer or a snack (non-students are welcome), and prices are equally convivial. A venerable 1950's projector shows films by directors such as Lynch and Almodovar and there are also regular art exhibitions. Something of a Cracovian institution.
