Lokator email

Lokator used to be a tiny, trendy pub, but after their recent move to Krakowska, they metamorphosized into an epicenter of independent art, film, and music. The new space features an outdoor garden complete with pond, a large inside area with stage, piano, and Kafkaesque glass above the bar, and an underground theatre showing cult and independent films. A loyal band of cultured types keep the atmosphere refined rather than rowdy, and the bar even produces a monthly publication called "Mrówkojad" ("Anteater"). It's the sort of place that could become rather cliquish elsewhere, but in Krakow is just all in good taste. Interesting clientele, music and exhibitions, with reductions for students, Lokator is fresh, cheerful and relaxed.

Lokator

Really impressed by their cosy bookshop, with tonnes of art books, children's picture books, and interesting dvds. Atmospheric place for a coffee/beer too...

The place itself has a good athmosfere.
Would be the kind of place I would visit in my hometown. The music they play is alternative from Jazz to Indie. I have to admit - for the acceptence of 1 young lady - the bar personal and guests are kind of pretentious snobs. Being in good company I would recommend the pub. Otherwise, please don't visit if you don't want to spend your evening with ignorant pretentious young folks.

These older reviews are out of date, I'm afraid. It's not pretentious to read books, or to be interested in ideas... Lokator put on film showings, publish books (on Polish animation, in particular) and sell beautiful children's books and toys. Oh, and they do beer, coffee and all that jazz... Pretentious? Gimme a break. It's just a bar - and a bookshop - and a cinema - and I'm sitting there right now using the ubiquitous open access wifi offered everywhere round here. Perfect. On second thoughts, please don't come here - go find a Wetherspoons or something...!

we were there in May and were lucky enough to know a band, Longital, that were going to play a gig there.. we wouldn't have known about it otherwise, anyway we had a great time, even before we met up with Dano & Sina, the staff wasn't jumping over the bar to hang out with us but they were friendly enough. no stinky ashtrays hanging around, the place was clean and the vibe was good. any of you that had a bad time should give it another go, maybe the staff has changed or you got them at a bad time... highly recommend it!

pretentious, yes, but it depends on when and with whom you go. and the bar staff have definitely been known to be assholes, but if you ignore them and come for the concerts or special events, it really is a cool, cultured place.

Pretentious! Or even PRETENTIOUS!

No soul here at all. From the guy dressed in black shoes, black trousers, black shirt and black sunglasses sitting at the bar, to the barmaid sitting on the bar with her back to the customers, dirty ashtrays left around the place and the bar staff too busy laughing and joking amongst themselves.

It's pretending to be arty/intellectual but fails.

I went there. Once. Not again.

Really nice low key venue. The black and white photos have been replaced by some colourful oil portraits btw... anyway definitely worth checking out for a quiet beer.

Forget the "Ants in Chocolate" series, the best ants to eat can be found in the "Ants in Gdansk" series ... its a sequel i believe.
