Otwarta Pracownia

Tucked in the courtyard of a rather grim building on Dietla Street is one of Cracow's artistic gems. Otwarta Pracownia (Open Studio) is a gallery space run by an artist's collective. None of your airy-fairy pot-smoking dreaminess here, however - the group actually gets on with the job of providing a space for talented artists to show their work, whilst ignoring all the self-promoting nonsense of most other galleries. The gallery is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm to 8pm, or by telephone appointment. Outstanding.

This sounds very interesting. I will be in Krakow next month. Does anyone know whether this palce is still operating?

Unpretentious place with great art. They print some interesting small catalogues too from time to time, which are available from here and also the bookshop at Bunkier Sztuki. Difficult to find - look for the simple sign outside the main building, then you have to ring the door entry phone to be let in. Go through to the courtyard in the back, and the entrance is at the far side on the right.
