The French Institute is one of the oldest West European cultural establishments in Cracow, created after World War II. Its goal is to promote French language and culture, and to support cultural exchange. The Institute cooperates with the Jagiellonian University and Bilingual High School in Cracow to organize annual events such as the presentation of Goncourt List award, as well as rewarding the best French comic books from the Angouleme Festival. In the main building of the Institute (on Stolarska Street), you may attend language courses and use materials from a well-equipped library full of French books, films and magazines. For more than 50 years, the Institute has been organizing exhibitions, concerts, conferences and festivals in Cracow (including Misteria Paschalia, Sacrum Profanum and Off Camera Film Festival), and inviting the most outstanding artists from France.
