Capella Cracoviensis website

Capella Cracoviensis is among the most dynamically developing groups specializing in the performance of early music on period instruments. Thanks to the continuing support from the City of Kraków CC is able to carry out ambitious projects on the highest artistic level without compromising its standards, and to bring together some of the most exceptionally talented musicians. During the work on Baroque oratorios and opera productions performed on period instruments (latest: Händel – Amadigi, Deborah, Rodelinda, Athalia, Theodora, Vivaldi – Griselda, Bach – St John Passion, Weihnachtsoratorium, Mozart – Great Mass in C minor, Beethoven – Missa Solemnis) CC has cooperated with artists from such world-renowned groups as Il Giardino Armonico, L'Europa Galante, Orchestra of the 18th Century, and L'Arpeggiata. Guest performers have also included, among others: Andrew Parrott, Paul Goodwin, Fabio Bonizzoni, Andreas Spering, Les Sacqueboutiers de Toulouse, Ensemble Oltremontano, and Nachtmusique. Capella Cracoviensis is also a chamber choir whose repertoire ranges from Gesualdo’s manneristic madrigals to Szymanowski’s Pieśni Kurpiowskie (Songs from the Kurpie). CC choir has performed with the celebrated guests of the Opera Rara series (www.operarara.pl), among others: Fabio Biondi and Marc Minkowski. A recent special project of the vocal group has been a novel crossover entitled: bar.okowa uczta (bar.oque banquet), directed by Vienna artist Cezary Tomaszewski – a performance of Monteverdi’s madrigals in one of Kraków’s diners accompanied by eminent actors (Jan Peszek, Maria Peszek) singing and reciting Petrarch’s sonnets.
