Corpus Christi Church

|
Legend has it that this mighty church was raised after a stolen monstrance was discovered by priests from the Church of All Saints. The thief had been struck by remorse, abandoning the booty on this very spot. When darkness fell, a beam of light illuminated the point where the monstrance lay... Historically, the Corpus Christi Church was the main parish church of Kazimierz (f.1335), which was founded as a separate city in its own right by King Kazimerz the Great. The church is one of Cracow's most distinctive houses of worship - its broody gothic interior complemented by flamboyant baroque furnishings. |
